Camp Javan engaged, educated, and empowered Iranian youth in diaspora through an inclusive, intentional space where they discovered a strong sense of self and became agents of change.

Camp Javan
Camp Javan was tailored to the unique challenges and potential of middle school. Camp Javan had the dual mission of empowering campers with a deeper understanding of culture and identity as youth within the Iranian diaspora, and the confidence and skills to be leaders within their communities.
Camp Javan found the perfect balance between fun and learning, with all activities in English. Camp Javan was a weeklong overnight camp led by IAAB staff and hosted at a college. Exceptional university students and young professionals, mostly comprised of Camp Ayandeh alumni, led campers as counselors through a series of community-building activities, experiential workshops, and discussions.
Camp Javan served rising 7th grade through rising 9th grade students. As a non-political and non-religious camp, Camp Javan was open to all races and creeds. Founded in 2012, Camp Javan was an annual summer program held in conjunction with Camp Ayandeh. In the past, Camp Javan was held in the Atlanta, Boston, Washington DC, and Los Angeles areas, even making it to Toronto! Participants traveled from across the United States and even internationally.
Everyone’s talent, passion, and kindness here inspires me more than what I can express in words. I now know that no matter what, I will always have my camp family as a support for the rest of my life.

I have never had such a fun, exciting, unique experience in my life. These memories will always stay with me and I’m more proud to call all these new people my brothers and sister. Camp has become my second home.
