BECOME A MENTOR

In the Danesh program, mentors will serve as a teacher, counselor, role model, advisor, and ally, depending on the specific goals and objectives discussed with the mentee. Mentors will provide mentees support, advice, feedback, and guidance. Each mentor will be assigned one mentee for a 6-month period. The mentors will be categorized based on their career and knowledge in the area of specialty. 

The mentor's responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Supporting their mentee’s career goals and professional and personal growth opportunities.

  • Directing mentees on the right track to avoid mistakes.

  • Providing knowledge regarding learning, opportunities, resources, and networking.

  • Guiding their mentee in their area of specialty.

Mentors will need the ability to do the following with their mentee:

  1. Active Listening

  2. Building Trust

  3. Maintaining Confidentiality

  4. Determining Goals and Building Capacity

  5. Encouraging and Inspiring their mentee

Requirements to become a mentor:

  • Have 2+ years since earning their post-secondary degree.

  • Have been affiliated with IAAB by being a camper or a counselor for camp Ayandeh or Javan.
